THURSDAY, MARCH 23

Had a helpful email from my mentor/teacher R about some suggestions he had to me regarding water-soluble graphite. Making headway with some portraits. Asking hubs to get me my burnt siena which I haven't been able to pick up for one reason or another. Sun is out, spring is here, although I hear we'll have a storm tonight.

...

And we did have a storm. Spring, where did you go???

Laid down the basic pencil for this portrait yesterday:

Guess who?
(I’m really excited about this one)

FRIDAY, MARCH 24

Let me tell you a story. Yesterday was absolute bananas. Lucian got some much needed dental work done, and for the better part of the night, he was bleeding and woozy, so he is out. I had to teach some music. The kids came down in the middle of my Zoom lesson and the two oldest were crying. They were worried about hubs (who was fine. Dealing with a fair amount of bleeding, but nothing out of the ordinary). Littlest joined in, although I don't think she knew why. All three crying while I was teaching, so I put myself on mute. Then, the two oldest eventually found a (very temporary) diversion in a book which middle child started to recite from memory, as she could not read yet. Oldest knows how to read so he was exasperatedly correcting her at every turn. I was probably two Zoom lessons in at this point. Then it all got quiet. Blessed be. I eventually turn around, and what do I see but all three kids playing with an upended POT OF DIRT (thanks, smallest child), throwing the dirt in the air, climbing over upholstery. I had to rouse Lucian and tell him to put them in the shower. Shortly after they left, I stopped teaching. Good timing, no?

Well, today was a lot better. I finally obtained...

Burnt Siena! (So smol)

I also have a fair bit of energy so I'm doing some art ahead of a crazy weekend.

No process video this week because ALL OF THE ABOVE. Pick a reason, any reason. It's that. I'm pooped lol.

Managed to finish the mid tone wash with water soluble graphite. Quite happy with this!
