BOUGUEREAU STUDY Day 2
Here's the result of today's Bouguereau study:
Baby Jesus from Bouguereau's La Vierge au lys
Faber-Castell 4B water-soluble graphite
on Winsor and Newton 300gsm, cold-pressed, 25% cotton watercolour paper.
I'm really happy with it, for the most part! Today's sunshine is so inspiring.
I feel like this is the best take I have on it in terms of proportions, and getting the features right. Shading with the graphite was fun, but also tricky. It will take a couple more tries to get used to. I love the way wetting the dark areas make them really pop.
If you're interested in seeing the process video (my first one, yay!) Here it is
Here are some renderings I did in my sketch book, with normal pencil for prep:

I'm gonna study the colours a bit and lay down a wash tomorrow!
Thanks for reading!
