LOVELY WEEKEND
By all accounts, this is a lovely weekend. I played at mass with my group on Saturday, and the response was very positive. As we enter the Lenten season, I'm strangely enough, thinking about perfection and how my attempts to be perfect, sometimes hinder more than help. We all want a life that is joyful, that is satisfying and good, but we also can't have it all. In the gaps, is where holiness, and beauty, lies.
I also reflect on how my art is not perfect. When I judge it too harshly, I get overwhelmed and de-motivated. When I say to myself "this may not be what you want, but you did enough. Good enough is good enough", then I'm at peace.

I did a study of this cloud:
Over which my youngest had to have her input:
I think the orange is an interesting choice.
After attending liturgy at our Antiochian church where I tried to herd toddlers into reading a few books with me (all in all, a strangely enjoyable experience), I obtained the water-soluble pencils today, and I hope to make a little thing:
Some things I'm digging:
- Mind of Watercolour actually has videos featuring the water-soluble graphite pencils I just got. Peep it here.
- ALSO, he has a tutorial for something I've been looking for for a few weeks: watercolour washes over graphite. I've had a hard time finding people who do this, any search always comes back with watercolour pencils, which are close enough, but not exactly what I'm looking for. Score! Peep it here. The portrait he made in this tutorial is SO good.
