SURVIVAL MODE

(Friday, February 10, 2023)

Snowy snowy day today. Not much chance to go out and do the things I've planned, plus, I'm still a little sick. So, I've spent a good part of the morning practicing piano and taking care of the music teaching side of things. Some really fun things coming that way. After a bit of a rest, I'm attempting more still lifes, with which I was hugely unsuccessful yesterday, in my estimation. 

My inspiration today is this lovely creamer *made in Romania* that we found on PEI. It came as part of a coffee service set and was acquired for peanuts. I started drawing, then added the second apple when I found I framed my subject a little more to the right than I intended. Anyway, here are the process pics. 

I do hope to lay in the wash either today or tomorrow. So far, happy with how this turned out, although the proportions are a little off.

WHAT DAY IS IT TODAY?

That question is as much for me as it is for the ether. What day is it today, Mikhai, you ask? Why, it’s Saturday, Mikhai, of course! Thank you kindly, Mikhai, I was beginning to lose track. Am I sick enough to have conversations with myself? I think, yes. A baby that won’t nap (but is finally not as sick as before), no food (which means I have to cook), paint that is *just not the right shade of blue* and I feel stuck, especially as my favourite art store is closed til Monday.

Will hopefully practice charcoal then, after all the urgent things have been dealt with. I also have some piano practice to take care of today.

Later that night...

My first charcoal and watercolour thingg! I REALLY enjoyed this. I like the messiness of charcoal, as hard as it is to find the point of the stick, so when I try to make fine lines, it's hit or miss. But, I hope to do more of these on the GOOD paper. So fun!

I am on the mend, hooray! Lucian did this little lighthouse, and I've not received a satisfactory answer to my question "Why does it look like it's on fire?"

 

I like it anyway.
